About Hobart House Painters

Hobart House Painters takes enquiries for interior, exterior, roof, heritage and weatherboard, and commercial and strata painting across Greater Hobart: Sandy Bay, Battery Point, New Town, Glenorchy, Moonah, Kingston and Kingborough, and the eastern shore from Bellerive to Lindisfarne. The site is run by Yes Right Pty Ltd (ABN 91 664 546 061).

How it works.

You call or use the quote form. We pass the job to a local painting business that can price it. That business quotes you directly and is responsible for its own licence, insurance and workmanship. We don't charge you for the enquiry. Businesses we refer work to may pay us a referral fee.

• Insurance. Painting doesn't need a state licence per se, so check insurance instead: ask for proof of current public liability cover and WorkSafe cover for everyone on site before work starts.
• A written, itemised quote. The prep should be listed line by line: pressure clean, fill, sand, prime. Expect two coats minimum, plus primer on bare areas.
• Lead paint on older homes. On a pre-1970 home, ask for a lead-paint test before any sanding, and for lead-safe practice under AS 4361.2: no dry sanding, proper containment and clean-up.
• Heritage approval. If the property is in a City of Hobart heritage precinct or on the Tasmanian Heritage Register, a colour change can trigger a planning requirement. Check with City of Hobart planning first.
• Work at height. Double-storey and roof painting is height work under WorkSafe Tasmania rules, so expect scaffold or an elevating work platform and proper fall protection.
• Both warranties in writing. The paint manufacturer's system warranty (up to 10 years on a premium exterior system, with maintenance conditions) and the painter's own workmanship warranty are separate documents.
